ELEVENMILE RESERVOIR: FALL

CALL FOR CONTACTS BELOW FOR LATEST CONDITIONS.

SPECIAL RULES:Bag and possession limit is 4 trout with no more than 2 over 16 inches. Kokanee salmon limit is 10; northern pike no limit. Check the current fishing guide for latest rules.

TROUT: (German Brown, Rainbow, Cuttbow, Cutthroat, Splake) Best fishing for trout from the bank during the summer months is early or late. Try Witcher's Cove, Coyote Ridge, the rocky areas of North Shore and Lazy Boy. Also try over the channel on the west end. Trolling rainbow pattern giant cow bells with a worm harness and piece of a worm around Goose, Deer or Duck Island and off points along the main body can be effective this time of year. You can also troll a Arnie's, Needlefish or Dick Nite spoon tipped with a piece of crawler but either use lead-core line or a clip-on weight to get your lure down to where the fish are this time of year. Casting a 1/8th ounce brown trout or gold Kastmaster around rocks and weeds can produce big browns or bows with your best luck very early or late in the day.

NORTHERN PIKE: The pike bite is best in the middle of the day. Use orange or silver Kastmasters or Rapala lures or try Daredevles. Also try anything tipped with sucker meat. Monster fish in the 15-17 pound class have been caught on Luhr Jensen Power Minnow, Rapalas and Thunder sticks. Try Coyote Ridge, Stoll Mountain, East Bay, Sucker Cove and below the parking lot at Lazy Boy. Pike will continue to improve as the water warms.

KOKANEE SALMON: (Upto 5 pounds) Some big kokanee are caught starting in August. Lead-core line is the way to go. Elevenmile has too many rocks and uneven bottom for down riggers. Fish over the old river bed or between Duck and Deer Island trolling Cow Bells, Kastmasters, Kokanee Killers, Z-Rays, Dick Nites, or Tasmanian Devils. Red, gold, silver, pink, green or orange Arnie's lures run behind cowbells tipped with white shoe peg corn, Fire Corn, or a piece of a nightcrawler is a good summer pattern.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From Denver, go south on I-25 to Colorado Springs, then turn west on US 24 (exit 141, go 38.5 miles, just past the town of Lake George. At mile marker 265 turn left (south) and follow Park County Road 90 4 miles back until the paved road turns left and turns into PCR 92. Follow CR 92 south 6 miles to Elevenmile State Park.
