7.5# Wiper
Pueblo

Wiper is by far the best warm water fish to have on the line here in Colorado. Fish to 25# and larger are possible.
The problem with wiper is finding them. First light and evening, at dusk, are the best times. Mid September through mid
to late November is when your most likely to catch them on the surface. My favorite spots at Pueblo reservoir are at the
dam, North Marina Cove, and the west end of the lake in the trees. Use top water lures like Rapala, Zara puppy, or Zara
Spook, or my fabvorite Yamamoto plastic grubs in shad colors. Other places to fish for wiper include North Sterling,
Aurora, Cherry Creek and Union Reservoirs. Wiper tend to suspend deep in large coves or along rock cliffs during the
day and often trolling with leaded line or down riggers is the best way to locate fish.
